Brianna Ghey, A TEEN has denied the murder of a transgender schoolgirl who was stabbed to death in a park. Brianna Ghey, 16, was found with knife wounds in Linear Park, Culcheth, Warrington, on February 11.



A boy and girl, both aged 16, have been charged with her murder of her. One of the defendants today pleaded not guilty to the charge in a hearing at Minshull Street Crown Court. The other did not enter a plea, with a reporting restriction placed on revealing which teen denied murder today.

Transgender Schoolgirl Stabbed to Death in Park

Mrs Justice Yip told the court: “It’s a case in which I know emotions are likely to run high, that’s very understandable. There has been a lot of publicity about it already.

“We’re going to make sure that this case proceeds in a calm manner in court in a way that is going to be entirely fair to everybody.”



The defendants, who can’t legally be named, are both currently being held in youth detention accommodation.

A provisional trial date expected to last three weeks has been set for November 27.

Police were scrambled to the park on the afternoon of February 11 after Brianna was found with serious injuries.

Detective Chief Supt Mike Evans of Cheshire Police described the killing as a “targeted attack” on Brianna during a “busy day” at the park.

In a tribute, the schoolgirl’s family said Brianna was a “much-loved daughter, grandmother, and baby sister.”

The statement continued: “She was a larger-than-life character who would leave a lasting impression on all that met her.
