Chandiana Jean is A woman driving with a suspended license was busted in connection to a chain-reaction crash involving an MTA bus that injured more than a dozen people – including her own passenger, who was clinging to life Monday, cops said.
Chandiana Jean, 23, was behind the wheel of a 2003 Chevy Impala, going north on Essex Street near New Lots Avenue in East New York, Brooklyn around 8:30 p.m. Sunday when she rear-ended a 2021 Toyota Sienna driven by a 22-year-old man, police said.
The impact caused the Sienna to careen through the intersection, hitting a 2006 Ford Escape SUV with a 55-year-old man behind the wheel — who was stopped at a stop sign westbound on New Lots Avenue, authorities said.
Chandiana Jean is 23 years old.
Woman with Suspended License Charged
Jean’s Impala was then struck by a B15 MTA bus as she continued driving through the intersection, cops said.
Her rear passenger, a 44-year-old woman, was taken to Brookdale University Hospital Medical Center, where she was listed in critical condition with internal body trauma, police said.
Eight people on the bus were hospitalized – including the 38-year-old male driver who injured an injured rib, police said.
The others included four men – ages 30, 56 and 60 – and three women – ages 20, 46 and 55 – who all 44 suffered minor injuries.
Jean was brought to Jamaica Hospital Medical Center with minor injuries after the crash and was then charged with aggravated unlicensed operator as well as possession of a forged instrument — because the car was unregistered, police said.
A 26-year-old man who was also a passenger in her car was brought to the same hospital with minor injuries.
The 22-year-old Toyota Sienna driver went to Brookdale with back and neck injuries, and the passengers of that vehicle – a 43-year-old man and 18-year-old woman – were both taken to the same hospital with minor injuries , cops said.
The 55-year-old Ford Escape driver went to the Kings County Hospital Center with minor injuries, police said.
A total of 15 people were hurt, including Jean, who lived about a half-mile from the scene, cops said.
