Danny Zayat, A woman who was found dead inside a Sydney unit has been named and her partner arrested after it took police almost 24 hours to locate her body following an anonymous tip-off about an alleged domestic dispute.
Tatiana ‘Tania’ Dokhotaru, 34, was found dead by police in the unit of a massive apartment block on Norfolk St in Liverpool, south west Sydney, around 8pm on Saturday.
Police received an anonymous phone call about an alleged domestic dispute at the apartment block about 11.45pm on Friday.
Yet, when they attended just over three hours later, they were unable to locate the apartment in the almost-300 unit building.
Danny Zayat is 28 years old.
Suspect Charged & Arrested
About 8pm on Saturday, police were called back to the Liverpool unit block, where they found Ms Dokhotaru’s body. She had severe head injuries.
In the apartment was her partner Danny Zayat who was arrested and taken to Liverpool Police Station for questioning and a four-year-old child.
It is thought the child was Ms Dokhotaru’s.
Zayat is believed to have breached an AVO. He was charged with the following offenses: stalk/intimidate intend fear physical etc harm (DV), contravene prohibition/restriction in AVO (DV) and destroy or damage property (DV).
Zayat is expected to be charged with murder.
It is believed the anonymous phone call was made by Ms Dokhotaru herself, according to 9News.
But it was categorized as less urgent, which is why it took police over three hours to try to locate the apartment.
However, it is unclear why it took them a total of 20 hours to find it.
Police have launched a critical incident investigation into the delay, which will be independently reviewed.
Court documents reveal police allege there was a domestic incident between Zayat and Ms Dokhotaru between the hours of 10am and 11.59pm on Friday, according to the Daily Telegraph.
Police allege that during this time Zayat smashed Ms Dokhotaru ‘s television, with the intention of causing her harm.
Zayat appeared briefly in Parramatta Bail Court on Sunday where he made no application for bail and it was officially refused, before he was ordered to reappear in Liverpool Local Court on Monday.
It is understood they are not looking for anyone else in relation to Ms Dokhotaru ‘s death.
She ran a handbag rental business called Personal Lux Goods and had recently set up a new Instagram account alongside the caption: ‘New page, actions reveal why words hold no weight’.
