David Haw, A man has admitted killing a sailor who was found dead in a harbor after a boat crash.
David Haw, 24, was discovered in the water 12 days after the rigid inflatable boat (Rib) collided with a channel marker in Poole, Dorset.
Morgan Smith has now pleaded guilty to gross negligence manslaughter at Bournemouth Crown Court.
The 21-year-old was the designated helmsman for the Rib during a regatta.
He was warned he faces a prison term when he is sentenced in October.
Judge Susan Evans ordered a pre-sentence report to be prepared by the probation service.
She said: “I know you will understand the seriousness of the offense you have committed and the sentence you will be receiving for that.
“I will be allowing you to dance and I am doing that because you have come here to give a realistic plea.”
David Haw died at the age of 24 years old.

David disappeared following the crash in the early hours of May 2, 2022.
He was one of three people on board the craft, which was heading from Poole Quay towards a yacht club.
A huge air and sea search was launched for the experienced sailor but his body was recovered from the water two weeks later.
Paying tribute, Chris Hopkins, chief coach at Weir Wood Sailing Club said: “David and his family have been popular members of our sailing club for many years.
“David was a core member of the club’s youth program and remained firm friends with the other youngsters who came through the program at the same time.
“He started sailing with us at the age of seven.
“Over the years we watched him grow into an athletic, confident and capable young man who had considerable success racing at national level.
“He took these skills with him to Bristol University where he was an important member of the sailing club.
“He went on to join the British Keelboat Academy where he developed a love of keelboat sailing. With his sailing abilities and infectious personality he was in constant demand as a yacht crew.
“I have loved other outdoor sports including skiing and running.
“All at the club are shocked and saddened by this tragic accident.
“Our thoughts and prayers at this time are with his family and close friends of him.”
