Hubert Brown, 61, died from stab wounds after he was allegedly attacked in Bristol’s St Paul area on Friday afternoon. Mr Brown, a vulnerable adult thought to be of Jamaican origin, was described as a very friendly man who was popular within the local community, The Independent reported. His family released the following tribute:



“During this difficult time, our family is heartbroken and saddened by the loss of Hubert, affectionately known as Isaac to many. “He was a good-hearted, harmless person, and it is truly devastating that his life ended so tragically. It is incredibly challenging to accept that he is no longer with us, and we are struggling to understand and come to terms with the circumstances surrounding his death.

Hubert was a beloved member of our community and we would like to express our sincere gratitude to those who did all they could to help him during this time, and to the police for their ongoing investigations. “As a family, we support each other during this difficult time, finding solace in each other’s presence and our shared memories.

Tributes to Black man killed in alleged race hate attack

A heartbroken family have paid tribute to a “kind-hearted” and “harmless man” who was tragically stabbed to death last Friday in what police are treating as a race hate crime.



Hubert Brown, affectionately known as Issac, was stabbed during the attack in Bristol St Paul’s at around 3.20pm. The 61-year-old man died after being taken to hospital. Citizens detained a woman until officers arrived. A 36-year-old woman named Christina Howell was charged with murder and appeared at Bristol Magistrates’ Court today for a brief preliminary hearing.

The victim’s family said they were “truly devastated” by their loss. In an emotional statement made through the police, it was stated: “At this difficult time, our family is deeply saddened and heartbroken by the loss of Hubert, affectionately known as Isaac to many. He was a good-hearted, harmless person, he really is. “It is not surprising that his life was so tragic. It’s very sad that it ended somehow.

It is incredibly challenging to accept that he is no longer with us, and we are struggling to understand and come to terms with the circumstances surrounding his death. Hubert was a beloved member of our community and we would like to express our sincere gratitude to those who did all they could to help him during this time, and to the police for their ongoing investigations.

Avon and Somerset Police said: “As a family, we support each other through this challenging time, finding solace in each other’s presence and our shared memories.” Avon and Somerset Police said Hubert’s relatives were being supported by a specially trained liaison officer. Force described him as a “familiar and popular figure” in the region.

Neighborhood Chief Inspector Deepak Kenth said: “Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the deceased, who was a familiar and popular figure to many in St Paul’s. We are grateful to the community for their prompt action in assisting the injured man and supporting our investigation in the immediate aftermath of this tragedy. ”Howell was remanded in custody and his case will be heard at Bristol Crown Court tomorrow.
