Arrested For injured Three People at a McDonald
The second attack came after 8:40 a.m., when a stabbing was reported at the McDonald’s on Granville Corners.
Fountain said the victim was found lying on the floor near the entrance of the fast food restaurant, with customers crowding to try to help.
Then, about 15 minutes later, reports of a third stabbing came in at the parking lot of the nearby Walmart at 1015 Lewis St.
After the stabbings, the Sheriff’s office and Oxford Police Department received tips about the driver fleeing the area, with multiple law enforcement cars chasing Webb down Interstate 85.
Fountain described Webb’s car as gold with no plate, with the chase reaching speeds of 80 mph before officers deployed stop sticks to intercept the fleeing vehicle.
Once Webb hit the stop sticks, he lost control of the car and was arrested by police without further incident.
All the stabbing victims, who have not been publicly identified, were quickly transported to an area hospital for treatment.
Officials noted that the city worker’s injuries were not fatal.
“The employee’s family is with them, and their condition has been reported as stable,” the city said in a statement.
Fountain said the motive behind the attacks remains unclear, but noted that it may have been related to a mental-health breakdown.
“It was just somebody who may have had a bad day, may have been a mental health crisis, but we’re working diligently with the DA’s office and local law enforcement to find out what happened,” he said.
