A 17-year-old Texas girl who was the subject of an Amber Alert on Friday, August 1, has been charged with murder. Natalie Navarro was arrested for killing 21-year-old Arturo Pena just three days after he was found shot to death inside a vehicle in Garland, Texas. Police also identified Yordy Martinez, 21, as another suspect in the murder case. A murder warrant was issued for Natalie Navarro and Yordy Martinez.
Authorities immediately listed Martinez as a suspect in Navarro’s disappearance when an Amber Alert was issued Friday after police received information of her sudden disappearance under “suspicious circumstances” from an apartment complex in East Dallas around the 1:30 am. A murder warrant was issued for Navarro and Martínez at the time of the Amber Alert, but Martínez is feared to have escaped unharmed across the US-Mexico border.
Authorities have not provided many details about the circumstances that led to Navarro’s disappearance and detention. Police are still “trying to figure out exactly” how the three individuals met. On August 29, around 10 a.m., police found Peña inside his car after receiving reports that they had discovered an unconscious person. It was later determined that the victim was shot to death.

According to Fox 4, Peña was reported missing to the Dallas Police Department two days ago. Police tracked down the suspects during their investigation and obtained warrants after identifying them as persons of interest in the case. However, the incident took an abrupt turn when Navarro, who was not charged at the time, became the focus of the Amber Alert.
According to authorities, the circumstances surrounding his disappearance met the conditions for the warning, but they have not provided further details about the circumstances. She was found and detained by police within an hour. According to police, she was “safe and in custody.”
Martinez, whom police initially listed as a suspect in the Amber Alert, is believed to have fled in a dark gray four-door car. It is feared that he has escaped to Mexico. According to authorities, the 21-year-old is missing a front tooth and has a criminal record that includes a felony charge for allegedly shooting a gun at a home in Garland last November.
The exact motive for Peña’s murder has not yet been revealed. “There’s a lot of things coming to light, we’ve collected a lot of evidence, so we’re trying to process everything right now,” said Lt. Richard Maldonado with the Garland Police Department.
The teen was laid to rest at 4:30 p.m. Thursday at the Trilha do Ceu cemetery.
